With a world becoming more dominated by agri-business, our courses are an opportunity to learn about agri-CULTURE - sustainable, organic farming with best practice in animal husbandry and the production of good food.

In our butchery we share our knowledge of traditional butchering methods and give you the chance to experience this craft for yourself.

The day gives like-minded people an overview of the entire process of sustainable farming and ethical beef and lamb production.

See below for the details of the day, prices, and our list of upcoming dates.

Our 2019 course dates are now live. We have 6 places available for each day.

  • Basic cost: £140 (this includes a cut of beef to take home).

  • Course + Discounted Box: £240 (this includes a beef box at 20% below retail value).

We will be running beef courses on:

26th January

To book your place please email jayne@jacobsladderfarms.co.uk or go to our MeetUp page and register there.

We begin at 8:30 with an organic breakfast at the farm. You will get to sample our own-cured bacon (made using rare-breed pork from a local farm), our own-made sausages, local organic eggs and baked bread.

Michael the farmer will then give you an intimate introduction to our regenerative agricultural principles and he will take you on a walk round the farm.

We then don the aprons and step inside our butchery. You will learn how to spot the hallmarks of a healthy animal, and get a glimpse into the craft of meat preparation. You will be given a guided demonstration, and there will be plenty of opportunity to roll up your sleeves and have a go at preparing cuts.

The day ends by sitting down to a lunch prepared using our own meat, locally grown organic produce (like these edible flowers from Plaw Hatch farm!), and some organic wine.
